What is Pilates?

Pilates is an exercise method that consists of low impact flexibility and muscular strength endurance movements. Evolved from techniques created by Joseph Pilates more than 70 years ago!

What are the benefits of Pilates?

Pilates trains the whole body and mind improving posture and body awareness – muscle imbalances are addressed, lengthening muscles and strengthening weaker muscles – Improved circulation, energy levels and feelings of well being.

What is the difference between Pilates and Yoga?

Pilates has no spiritual or meditative background. It concentrates on muscle strength, tone, and core strength. They work well together to compliment each other.

How many are typically in a class?

Class sizes are kept small. 12 max for individual attention. Some classes are smaller if beginner or bone health.

I am new to Pilates, is there a class I can attend?

If you are a complete beginner or are recovering from injury we suggest a private session first before booking any group classes.  That way we can assess you and slot you into the appropriate class.

Where are the classes held?

Classes are held at various locations in Surrey.  For full details of where each class is being held please see our class schedule and click on the individual class for more information.  The locations are:

St Lawrence Church Hall, Effingham, KT24 5LX
Fetcham Village Hall, Fetcham, KT22 9QS

How do I book a class?

Once the initial contact has been made, you will be sent a link to an online scheduling page, to book your classes.

I can't make any of the existing classes can you run others?

If you would like to attend a class but cannot commit to any of the scheduled classes, please get in touch as we will start an additional class if there is enough demand.

Do you offer private sessions?

Yes! Private sessions can be arranged at times to suit you. This can include the use of studio equipment and the studio reformer/tower. Private sessions are particularly beneficial for injury rehabilitation and are tailored to your individual needs.  Please contact me to find out more.

Do you have any videos of exercises that I can watch?

I have a Vimeo account where all my videos are stored.  If you would like access please contact me.

Do you have any exercises I could do at home?
